As the Christmas season approaches, the imagery that surrounds us often includes a mix of festive decorations, twinkling lights, and images of Santa and his reindeer, presents and Christmas trees, and the Nativity – Mary, Joseph and Jesus in the manger. One iconic image that captures the essence of both the secular and sacred aspects of Christmas is that of Santa kneeling before Baby Jesus.

It’s an image that beautifully marries the secular and sacred sides of Christmas. Amidst the hustle and bustle of holiday preparations, it encourages reflection on the deeper meaning of Christmas. It encourages us to pause and consider the values of love, compassion, and selflessness that the holiday represents.

So, during the season of Advent as we prepare for to celebrate the birth of Jesus, let’s carry this heartwarming scene of Santa kneeling before Baby Jesus in our minds. Let it be a visual cue to embrace the spirit of love, generosity, and humility symbolized by this image, fostering a deeper appreciation for the essence of the season.
